Evaluation of Aquatic Facilities
City of San Leandro
San Leandro High School
vi. One hour or less for a wading pool.
vii. Two hours or less for a temporary training pool.
viii. Six hours or less for all other types of public pools.
If the two pools are separated with independent mechanical equipment then the existing
filter system would be large enough to operate in a six-hour turnover rate. The pool
circulation pump would need to be replaced with a pump for the designed flow rate. A
second set of equipment would need to be supplied and installed for the training pool.
The estimate assumes that the underground piping is suspect and would be replaced when
the pool deck is replaced.
(Estimated Cost $29,000.00)
7. The pools lack the safety deck depth markers in violation of Title 24, Chapter 31B.
3109B.4 Water Depth Markers. The water depth shall be clearly marked at the
following locations:
a. maximum depth,
b. minimum depth,
c. each end,
d. at the break in the bottom slope between the shallow and deep portions of the pool
[see also Section 3108B.4J, and
e. on the perimeter of the pool at distances not to exceed 25 feet.
The deck depth markers should be added to the pool. (SEE EXHIBIT 25)
(Estimated Cost $4,500.00)
,~~ -t --
Exhibit 25: San Leandro High Lacks Deck Depth Markers
November 2001 Aquatic Design Group, Inc.
