City of San Leandro -Personnel Relations Board <br />Special Meeting of Thursday, May 8, 2008 <br />Chairperson Shirley McManus called the meeting to order in the Human Resources <br />Department Conference Room, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 835 East 14th Street, San Leandro, <br />CA on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 5:32 p.m. <br />Justinian Caire, Human Resources Director and Executive Secretary called the role. <br />PRESENT: Chairperson Shirley McManus, Member Adan Alonzo, Member Bill Jardin, <br />Member Kent Myers and Member Hillary Van Austen. <br />ABSENT: None <br />Chairperson McManus welcomed new Board members Adan Alonzo and Hillary Van <br />Austen to their first meeting, and she, along with Member Jardin and Member Myers, is <br />looking forward to their participation on the Board. <br />There were no representatives from the public present at the meeting. <br />It was MS (Myers/Jardin) to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting of February 21, <br />2008 as presented. The Motion carried 5 Ayes. <br />Secretary Caire indicated that staff was not recommending extending any employment list <br />due to expire between the months of April 18, 2008 and July 17, 2008. <br />Secretary Caire reviewed the classification specification update process with the Board for <br />the benefit of new Members Alonzo and Van Austen. He indicated that this is the third <br />series of revised or new classification specifications being presented to them. <br />Secretary Caire also reviewed the new format of the class specifications, changes in the <br />definition, supervision and education and experience sections and the newly added <br />working condition section. <br />The Board then proceeded to review the presented classification specifications in specific <br />groups. <br />Secretary Caire indicated that the "Community Services Specialist" classification <br />specification is being removed from the agenda and will be presented for the Board's <br />review at their next meeting. <br />The first group reviewed comprised the Administrative Assistant III, Administrative <br />Specialist-Police, Administrative Specialist I, Administrative Specialist II, Administrative <br />
