Not later than March 1, 2009 the >rIuman Resources Director will prepare for City Council consideration a recruitment schedule for the position of City Manager. This schedule will include the names and references of professional recruitment firms experienced in assisting City Council's in the identification, recruitment and selection of high-level municipal executives. The Human Resources Director and the selected firm will assist the City Council with all aspects of the process to include evaluation of the qualifications, academic achievements and work experience required of City Manager candidates in arder to meet the expectations of the City Council and community. BACKGROUND Anal As amended, the contract with the current City Manager expires on September 5, 2008. The effective date of the employment agreement with the Interim City Manager covers the period of September 6, 2008 through June 30, 2009. Current City Council Policy The City Manager is appointed pursuant to Article IV, Section 400 of the San Leandro City Charter and is employed under the provisions of a contractual services agreement for a defined period of time. The contract may be renewed by the City Council if the job performance is deemed satisfactory. Previous City Council Action(s) The City Council has employed John J. Jermanis as City Manager since February 1997.
