I SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPT ON: APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO CITY COUNCIL ~` Jo ~Termanis Cit anager RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR THE WASHINGTON MANOR LIBRARY, PROJECT NO. 210-69-146. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION The work includes demolition of the old library at 1307 Manor Boulevard and construction of the new library building at 1241 Manor Boulevard; including a parking lot and landscaping. Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year maintenance period, hereby authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. BACKGROUND Analysis Council awarded the construction contract to Krama, Inc. on March 7, 2005. Krama, Inc. substantially completed the work on February 3, 2007 but then failed to perform the remaining work on the project. The City declared Krama, Inc. in default on the contact on September 21, 2007 and asked the surety, Washington International Insurance Company, to complete the work. The City and the Washington International Insurance Company entered into an agreement for the completion of the work on February 13, 2008, and the Washington International Insurance Company has now completed all field work and submitted all required paperwork. Current City Council Policy Not Applicable Previous City Council Action(s) • On April 12, 2004, by Resolution No. 2004-054, the City Council approved the plans and specifications and authorized the call for bids • On July 19, 2004 by, Resolution No. 2004-128, the City Council rejected all bids
