the board is representative of the community, and as such can reach out to indiviudals for assistance in <br />projects, fund raising, etc <br />The current board is dedicated to the purpose of Davis Street. <br />Caring about th emission, some donate time to fundraising events or the volunteer events, a few with <br />donations -not nearly as cotnitted as they should be. <br />The board members have a wide range of professional and community experience. <br />diverse experienced known in the communityi <br />Very dedicated, local, good-hearted people <br />Please describe the Board's role in fundraising for DSFRC, including a description of your specific <br />efforts: <br />ticket sales, sponsorships, "opening" the door to potential donors <br />no input <br />strong -unusually strong. well connected in the community. <br />T'm one of the orginal people who with Mike Wiesner started Opera Night . The one night event brings in <br />about 75,000. per year in unrestricted funds for Davis St <br />This is not the strongest role of the board. I have supported every fund raiser and tried to involve the <br />community in involvement with and for Davis Street. <br />The current board is dedicated to the purpose of Davis Street. <br />Majority of our efforts have been poor. There is one board member that has succeded in bringing in some <br />good donations through his contact, specifically "judge" Landis - 25-SOk. I have tried and brought in some <br />minor donations - 5-1 Ok, some members including myself support the entity with cash donations, however <br />most of the board leaves it of the executive director to obtain donations. They give of their itme, but ndo <br />not give their funds or contactlrequestfmm their wealthy friends. <br />The board helps with the organization of the agency's signature fundraising event, Opera Nite at Paradiso. <br />This August we will also hold a golf tournment. The board members solicit sponsorships for Opera Nite, <br />commit to finacially support the agency with at least a $500 per year contribution and garner private <br />donations from family, friends and business associates. <br />i am new to the board but its important for board members to support fundraising events with a contribution <br />as well as identify and approach businesses and individuals who could contribute <br />Fundraising is always difficult. Times are tough. The Board attempts to identify those who can give, but it <br />is always difficult.
