Because referrals from peer agencies are not reliably tracked, it's impossible to say to
what degree these referrals manifest in Center usage, to analyze which peer agencies are
referring to DSFRC, or to identify which services are most needed by referred clients -
all of which would be useful information. There is no compelling reason, as it pertains to
sustainability, to track referrals from peer agencies except as a very indirect measurement
of the peer agencies' familiarity with and support of DSFRC. However, tracking these
referrals could easily be made part of the initial client interview by making that question
a required-input field on the intake form.
Board of Directors
Board of Directors -Survey Results: Summary
We also wanted to survey the Board of Directors for DSFRC to get their impressions of
the quality of service provided, their own roles as board members, and opinions about
management.
Out of the 14 Board members, 10 responded to our survey request, 3 did not submit a
response, and 1 opted out because she was newly appointed and had no DSFRC Board
experience. Board members' exact comments can be found in Appendix E: Summar~of
Board of Directors' Feedback.
Eleven key questions were asked. Each question is given below followed by a brief
summary of the responses.
How would you describe DSFRC's mission and the services they offer?
All of the respondents knew DSFRC's mission -some more completely than
others.
What is your impression of DSFRC in the area of quality of services provided to the
community?
Most of the Board responded directly to this question, though several did not
comment on quality (choosing instead of make other statements about mission,
using adjectives such as "unique", or commenting on community reputation). Of
those that commented on "quality", all found the services offered to be of
excellent quality. Only one respondent recognized, accurately, that several
programs were struggling and others were doing very well -though they did not
equate this with the concept of "quality" (a program can be operating at a loss and
still provide quality service, for example).
What is your impression of DSFRC in the area of management and staff (skills,
dedication, etc)?
All Board members directly, or indirectly, described management and staff as
dedicated. Many commented on them as being skilled. One member pointed out
Sustaioabiliry Study: Davis Street Family Resource Center-4/08 Page 21 of 96
