CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br />A. <br />B. <br />Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br />Councilmember Prola attended the July 9 meeting of the Alameda County Mosquito <br />Abatement District, at which it was reported that no cases of West Nile Virus have yet <br />been found in Alameda County, and only $2.50 of the recently passed $5.00 benefit <br />assessment would be charged. <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported on the recent League of California Cities East Bay <br />Division meeting that she and Councilmember Souza. attended. She commented that the <br />editor of the East Bay Business Times spoke on business trends, including employers <br />supporting transit options for their employees. <br />Councilmember Starosciak also reported the following from the Plans & Programs <br />Committee meeting of the Congestion Management Agency (CMA): CMA will be <br />putting the I-580 sound wall project out to bid soon; San Leandro has received two <br />station monitoring grants for planning around BART stations; and a High Occupancy <br />Toll (HOT) lane has been approved for eastbound I-580 from Dublin/Pleasanton <br />through the Altamont Pass. <br />Vice Mayor Stephens reported that he attended the Alameda County Mayors' <br />Conference dinner on behalf of Mayor Santos. The meeting featured a speaker from the <br />Taiwanese Consulate in San Francisco. <br />Councilmember Souza. reported on the League of California Cities East Bay Division <br />Dinner that she attended with Councilmember Starosciak. <br />Mayor Santos reported that he will attend the Waste Management Authority (WMA) <br />meeting this week, at which the Board will take up the issue of plastic bags. He <br />reported that the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority will be taking <br />responsibility as the lead agency for the bicycle-pedestrian corridor under the BART <br />tracks from Oakland to Union City. <br />Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br />Councilmember Grant reported <br />Local Government Commissio <br />development was given. <br />C.
