MINUTES Page 12 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-October 6, 2008 <br />transportation for low-income workers, but he has not yet heard if a grant has been <br />awarded to the LINKS. <br />3. Civic and Cultural Committee Meeting of September 23, 2008. Accepted as <br />submitted. <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br />a. Schedule consideration of revisions to the San Leandro Sister City and <br />Friendship City Guidelines. <br />Councilmember Prola stated that he read the Committee's comments <br />regarding the use of training and transportation budgets for international <br />travel, and agreed with many of the comments. Councilmember Prola stated <br />that he felt the City Council should severely limit all travel, unless <br />absolutely necessary, until the financial crisis is over. <br />Vice Mayor Stephens expressed appreciation for Councihnember Prola's <br />comments. Vice Mayor Stephens stated that while he had recommended <br />that the Council suspend all international travel, he further stated that he felt <br />Councilmembers should also limit all travel whenever they can. <br />Mayor Santos commented on the limits he has personally imposed on his <br />travel. <br />Councilmember Souza. stated that she did not support the recommendation <br />to expand the guidelines to include international travel at this time. <br />Councilmember Grant suggested that the matter be scheduled for a full <br />Council discussion. <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br />4. Facilities and Transportation Committee Meeting of September 9, 2008. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br />a. Schedule consideration of a resolution regarding the proposed new freeway <br />sound wall at eastbound I-580 near Foothill Boulevard. <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br />5. Rules and Communications Committee Meeting of September 4, 2008. Accepted <br />as submitted. <br />
