DRAFT MINUTES Page 8 February 2, 2009 City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting Mayor Santos reported that, now that the Alameda County Waste Management Authority has hired an executive director, it has turned its attention toward finding an attorney. B.Reports on Conferences and Seminars Councilmember Prola reported that he attended the Alameda County and Cities Climate Forum. He TOD project. Councilmember Gregory reported that he and Councilmember Starosciak attended the Local Government Commission-sponsored monthly TOD dinner series meeting. The meetings are funded by the San Francisco Foundation, and the most recent meeting drew a wide array of East Bay city managers and elected officials. Councilmember Starosciak quoted the following statistics from the TOD dinner series presentation: between 1996 and 2006, the average number of retirees per year was 300,000; between 2015 and 2025, that number is expected to grow five-fold, to 1.7 million per year; and by 2025, the number of non-child households will be 72%. C.Reports on Empowerment Funds Councilmember Prola reported that he will be submitting requests for Community Empowerment Fund contributions for CALICO Center and San Leandro Education Foundation. D.Reports on City Council Committees 1.Business and Housing Development Committee Meeting of January 8, 2009. Accepted as submitted. Councilmember Souza pointed out that there is a process and applications for appointments to the new Redevelopment Advisory Committee. 2.City and San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee Meeting of Accepted as submitted. January 15, 2009. Recommendation for City Council Consideration: a.Schedule a public hearing at the City and San Leandro Unified School District joint meeting on February 9, 2009 to consider agreements relating to th the 9 Grade Academy. By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation.
