DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 7 <br />February 17, 2009 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that, on behalf of the Mayor, he attended the opening <br />of the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) office in Downtown Oakland. <br /> <br /> <br />C.Reports on Empowerment Funds <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola reported that he contributed the remainder of his Community <br />Empowerment Funds as follows: $250 to CALICO Center and $250 to the San Leandro <br />Education Foundation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that he has requested contributions from his <br />Community Empowerment Funds for Stepping Stones ($500) and the San Leandro <br />Education Foundation ($750). <br /> <br /> <br />D.Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br /> <br />1.Business and Housing Development Committee Meeting of February 4, 2009. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza pointed out that the BRIDGE Housing project is now <br />called The Alameda. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos commented on the discussion of a proposed retail box zoning, and <br />asked if it would be possible to schedule it for a Council discussion at the next <br />regular meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola commented on retail box ordinances adopted in other cities, <br />and he stated that San Leandro would not need to reinvent the wheel. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza noted that the Committee plans to continue discussion on <br />the subject of retail box zoning, and she strongly encouraged adherence to the <br />process whereby the Business and Housing Development Committee would make <br />a recommendation to the full Council. <br /> <br />Recommendation for City Council/Redevelopment Agency Consideration: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />a.Schedule approval of an Owner Participation Agreement with BRIDGE <br />Housing for $9.1 million in Redevelopment Housing Set-Aside funding <br />relating to The Alameda (formerly known as San Leandro Crossings) <br />affordable housing project. <br /> <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br /> <br /> <br />b.Schedule approval of a 17-month consulting services agreement with Main <br />Street Property Services, Inc. for the Downtown and San Leandro marketing <br />campaign. <br /> <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br /> <br />
