Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 4 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -February 1, 1999 <br />5. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br />None <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br />Disaster Council Meeting of January 21, 1999 -- Mayor Young reported on <br />the meeting highlights. <br />2. Rules and Communications Committee Meeting of January 26, 1999 -- <br />Gordon Galvan reported on the meeting highlights. <br />C. City Council Comments <br />A Council Member Grant commented on her attendance at the Cholesterol Low- <br />Down Countdown held at Bayfair Mall on Saturday. She indicated it was a <br />very successful event. She noted actress Debbie Allen was there and it drew <br />quite a crowd, as well as being a very great public service for San Leandro <br />residents. <br />Council Member Grant also announced she will be having a Town Hall Crime- <br />Prevention Safety Meeting in her District at Jefferson School on February 4, <br />1999. She will also be holding office hours at Bayfair Mall on Saturday, <br />February 6, 1999, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. <br />B. Council Member Lothrop commented on the Cholesterol Event, as well, and <br />noted it was very successful. <br />Council Member Lothrop, referencing the item on the Agenda regazding a bus <br />loading zone on Hays Street, indicated that Pazatransit information should be <br />given to the individuals who voiced concerns regazding this issue. She also <br />stressed that, if petitions aze submitted to staff regazding constituent concerns, <br />a copy of that petition should be provided to the entire Council, or at least the <br />Council Member who's District is affected. <br />C. Mayor Young indicated the petition regazding the bus loading zone on Hays <br />Street was circulated on the bus, itself, and not within any particular District. <br />She also noted Paratransit service information should be circulated Citywide. <br />She further indicated she had received the petition referenced; and, in the <br />future, she will make sure appropriate Council Members are given copies. <br />Mayor Young also indicated Manuela DeSouto was the individual who had <br />circulated the petition. Mayor Young further suggested the Council consider <br />the creation of a Transportation Task Force for the Yeaz 2000. She suggested <br />
