Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 3 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -February 16,1999 <br />relocation in approximately 10 days. They aze hoping to be able to keep their jobs <br />in San Leandro. They would not support rezoning until an agreement is reached <br />and signed. <br />Rick Richards, Friends of the Creek, 335 Peralta Avenue, addressed the <br />Council, indicating he is hopeful the intersection of Peralta Avenue and San <br />Leandro Boulevazd will be enhanced. He voiced agreement that the schools will <br />be impacted; but he is glad they will work with the School District to address those <br />issues and, perhaps, boundaries will be reviewed. <br />Bob Nehls, San Leandro Unified School District, addressed the Council, stating <br />the Board President, Linda Perry, asked that he attend the meeting this evening. <br />The School District is not opposing the development. The De Silva Group has <br />met with District staff, and they aze confident issues will be addressed. There will <br />be a facilities impact, and there will probably be about 220 students coming from <br />this development. They aze working toward resolving issues that may arise from <br />this increase. The District would welcome a joint Work Session in the future <br />regazding the impacts from this development. There is a Facilities Master Plan on <br />their web site which is due to be updated. <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council and asked if there <br />are pass-through fees, expressed that a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) should be <br />provided, and expressed concerns regazding this actually being a redevelopment <br />project. <br />Lynn Sexton, 231 Oaks Boulevard, addressed the Council regazding traffic <br />congestion resulting from this project, as well as the impact on schools. <br />There being no further comments from the public, the Public Hearing was closed. <br />M/S/C Galvan and Glaze. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Loeffler <br />Alden Barry re-addressed the Council and indicated traffic congestion has been <br />considered, and they will be continuing to address those issues. He thanked staff <br />for their assistance through this process and said their information was accurate <br />and specific. <br />Council discussion continued regazding hazardous-waste concerns. Council <br />additionally expressed their gratitude to the staff and the Planning Commission for <br />their review and input into this proposed development. <br />The Mayor encouraged continued negotiations for the relocation of Dependable <br />Furniture and the Food Bank and indicated there is a delicate balance between <br />housing and economic development. <br />
