Finance Committee, FY 1999-2000, Meeting of March 25, 1999 -- Mayor <br />Young reported on the meeting highlights. Council discussion ensued <br />regarding sending letters of opposition to legislative issues prior to the full City <br />Council having an opportunity to discuss such a position. Council Member <br />Glaze indicated he does not have a problem with the letter coming from the <br />Mayor's Office, but does have a concern when the wording of the letter <br />indicates the position stated is that of the full Council. <br />After lengthy discussion regarding the process, there was Council consensus to <br />refer the issue of position letters written by the Mayor on behalf of the full City <br />Council to the Rules and Communications Committee for review and to <br />consider whether guidelines are needed. <br />4. Rules and Communications Committee Meeting of March 23, 1999 -- Vice <br />Mayor Galvan reported on the meeting highlights. <br />(a) Motion to Proceed with Naming of City Property After A. W. "Watt" <br />Bruner and Lee Bruner and Ordering a Brass Plaque. <br />Given the discussion which took place earlier in the evening, the Council <br />directed that this issue be continued to the next City Council Meeting, <br />under the Consent Calendar, and the item should include a description of <br />where the p1aE~ue is going. <br />The following Motion was then considered: <br />Minute Order No. 99-13, Motion to Proceed with Naming of City <br />Property After A W. "Watt" Bruner and Lee Bruner and Ordering a Brass <br />Plaque. (2657) <br />The City Council continued the matter of naming City property after <br />A. W. "Watt" Bruner and Lee Bruner and Ordering a Brass plaque, <br />to the April 19,1999, City Council Meeting. <br />No Vote <br />(b) Minute Order No. 99-14, Motion to Approve "Guidelines for Council <br />Members' Correspondence" for Insertion in the Council Members' <br />Handbook. (2850) <br />The City Council approved the "Guidelines for Council Members' <br />Correspondence" for insertion in the Council Members' Handbook. <br />M/S/C Galvan and Lothrop.
