Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council, Page 14 <br />San Leandro Economic Development Agency, San Leandro <br />Housing Finance Corporation, San Leandro Public Financing Authority, and <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -June 21, 1999 <br />E. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council, stating he <br />agrees with Mr. Faria. He expressed concerns with redevelopment and the Bay <br />Fair Mall, as well as the two items on the Consent Calendar relating to loans to the <br />Redevelopment Agency and the repayment of such loans. He concluded by stating <br />he feels the City Council appoints the wrong people to the wrong committees and <br />that committees should be created with individuals who will do something <br />beneficial for the community. <br />F. Darlene Evans, addressed the City Council, stating they need to read a publication <br />by the name of "Information Anxiety." <br />G. Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly, addressed the City Council and thanked Vice <br />Mayor Galvan for his remarks about the budget. He noted that, if the public is <br />shocked about the information received regarding the costs of the Civic Center, <br />they should wait and see what the library costs are. He expressed concerns with <br />the Police Department's costs and concluded by questioning how the lack of <br />General Fund Reserves will affect the City's bond rating on interest rates. <br />5. Council Member Grant indicated the last time the City Council met she had <br />encouraged the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce to take a position <br />opposing truck traffic on I-580, and she has found out they have done so. She <br />thanked the Chamber for their efforts. She continued by acknowledging the <br />upcoming public meeting being held by Assemblymember Ellen Corbett, which <br />is scheduled for June 24, at Assumption School. She noted Cal-Trans <br />representatives will be present to discuss the proposed removal of the truck <br />ban on Interstate 580. Paul Hensley, Chief Deputy District Director for Cal- <br />Trans' Region 4, will provide information and answer questions about the <br />possible lifting of the truck ban that has been in place since 1963. <br />
