Mayor Young reported, on behalf of Waste Management, that she attended the
opening of an additional recycling/reuse facility at Waste Management (a transfer
area) which will be helpful not only to the City, but to the residents, as there will not
be as much garbage trucked to the landfill. She commented that an additional
facility was opened today, along with the reuse people, which is similar to the
concept that Berkeley has with "Urban Ore." She indicated it is an exciting non-
profit, private-public partnership. She added further that Waste Management
Authority gave a grant to the reuse people to begin that process, which they could
not have afforded to do on their own.
B.
