Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council, Page 8
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency and San Leandro Public Financing
Authority Special Joint Meeting -October 18,1999
Council Member Nardine brought examples of materials that she feels our City
might benefit from which included anewsletter/fact sheet regarding the budget
process, materials regarding "Insight to Investing Public Funds" and a small
informational card from the City of Santa Ana on what they do for their
community.
Council Member Nardine also reported on her attendance this last week at the
City's High Tech Roundtable discussion. She noted that it was very
enlightening.
Council Member Nardine also requested that an item be put on an upcoming
agenda regarding a discussion about the John Muir Pool. There was Council
consensus to do so.
2. Council Member Glaze also requested that the Council consider having a Work
Session on the Parks Master Plan, with one of the components of that plan being
"pools." He would like to see the issue of acquisition of additional land/open
space for parks and park-in-lieu fees discussed as well.
Council Member Glaze continued by commenting on the need to address
playground equipment replacement in the Parks Master Plan. He added that he
would like to see an explanation of the street replacement program and perhaps
a computer modeling of that program also.
Council Member Glaze continued by commenting on his attendance at the
League of California Cities Conference and useful information he obtained
regarding E-Commerce.
In closing, Council Member Glaze commented on the recognition Jack
Maltester, former San Leandro Council Member and Mayor, received at the
League Conference. He noted that Jack was honored by the National League of
Cities as a former League of California Cities President He further indicated
that Jack was honored by the Governor of California by a Proclamation which
proclaimed October 10, 1999 as "Jack Maltester Day" in the State of California.
3. Council Member Loeffler questioned how Commission Members should be
reporting back to the City Council regarding their attendance and insights from
attending the League of California Cities Conference. He suggested that
Commissioners report out to the City Council during scheduled Work Sessions.
Council Member Loeffler also reported on a meeting with the Broadmoor
Homeowners Association and their expressed concerns for a noise ordinance
and their frustrations regarding receiving information on various projects, i.e. the
West MacArthur Redevelopment Project. He indicated there seems to be some
glitches in the flow of information to residents.
