Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 9 - <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - January 20, 1998 <br />E. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council regarding the <br />Junk Gun JPA issue; commented on the Closed Session regarding PG&E, as <br />it relates to rates and how it will affect the taxpayers now that the <br />City will be maintaining the lighting; and concluded by stating the <br />Council should put the Real Property Transfer Tax issue and the Water <br />Run-Off issue on the June ballot. <br />8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br />1. Council Member Galvan reported on EBDA and LAVWMA issues and reported <br />that they are still negotiating the outstanding issues, which are <br />very technical. <br />2. Council Member Glaze commented that he is currently the Council's <br />Representative to ACAP (Associated Community Action Program), and <br />Council Member Lothrop is the alternate. He would like to see <br />Council Member Lothrop take over the role of being the Representative <br />and he the Alternate. <br />It was noted this issue would have to be placed on the next Agenda <br />for official Council action should Council Member Lothrop agree to <br />the change. <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br />None <br />C. City Council Comments <br />1. Council Member Young requested the Council schedule a Work Session on <br />chloramine and requested that, perhaps, the East Bay Municipal <br />Utility District (EBMUD) make the presentation. <br />Council Member Young also commented on the need to address the <br />placement and maintenance of pay phones in the public right of way. <br />Council Member Young concluded by reporting on her recent vacation to <br />Panama City Beach, Florida, noting that she has brought back <br />information from their local Chamber of Commerce. She noted that she <br />was also made an Honorary Citizen and was given a key to their City. <br />She further noted that the Mayor's Secretary in Panama City was from <br />the City of San Leandro. <br />2. Council Member Glaze commented that he would like to see a <br />Redevelopment Committee reinstated for West San Leandro. He also <br />mentioned Mr. Fred Korematsu, who recently received the United States <br />Medal of Freedom from the President of United States; and, since he <br />is a local person, the Council should honor him as well and suggested <br />the Mayor give him a key to the City. <br />
