If there is only one employee working, that requirement is not <br />enforced. Signs would be posted when handicapped service is available. <br />Council Member Grant clarified the driveway issues, and staff confirmed that <br />Pring's has no problem with the closing of the driveways. She also clarified that <br />the store hours and the pump hours would be the same. Council Member Grant <br />verified that the necessary clean-ups for possible contamination have been done by <br />Chevron, and they are awaiting the soil samples indicating it is complete. <br />Council Member Loeffler indicated his concerns with what appears to be a pattern <br />of corporate gas stations that, in his view, are discriminating against handicapped <br />individuals. <br />The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council regarding the <br />driveway issues. He stated the owners of the property should make the decision as <br />to whether the driveways should be closed or not. In his opinion, things should be <br />left as is for now. <br />Sheila Cook, 15035 East 14`~ Street, representing Columbia Health Care <br />Pavilion, explained the reasons for wanting the access gate closed. Their concern <br />is for their patients, as there is a lot of traffic that cuts through that area, creating a <br />hazard for people coming and going to the hospital. <br />There being no further comments from the public, the Public Hearing was closed. <br />M/S/C Loeffier and Nardine. Ayes: 5; Noes: 0; Absent: Galvan and Lothrop <br />Council discussion ensued regarding the Traffic Engineer's review of street access <br />and ingress and egress as they relate to the driveways being close to the <br />intersection. An increase in hours of operation; i.e., a request to become a 24-hour <br />establishment, was also discussed. It was suggested that, if such a request was <br />made, it should come back to the Council for review. <br />Mayor Young noted she would like to see an added Condition, indicating that, if <br />there was a request to increase hours of operation to 24 hours, it be required to be <br />brought back to the Council. <br />
