Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Page 3
December 7, 1998
4. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, for a total time period of one hour.
When you address the City Council, you should Till out a speaker card and submit it to the
City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official record of names and
addresses obtained. The public is invited to make any comments related to Agenda items, or
other items of public interest, at this time.
A. Harold Perez, 2057 Vestal Court, addressed the Council, requesting that the Council do
further review of the pedestrian crossing on Davis Street, indicating there is not enough
time for a pedestrian to get all the way across the street. He noted there needs to be an
island in the middle to give someone a place to go when time has run out to cross the
street. With regard to the new refuse service being proposed, he questioned if garbage
cans with wheels will be provided in order to move them more easily out to the curb.
B. Walter Hirt, 716 Warden Avenue, addressed the Council regazding the amount of extra
chazges on his water bill. He noted it is figured every two months, and he is paying over
$300 a yeaz. He remazked that he has spoken with someone at the Water Department, and
he was told certain chazges could not be put on his bill without the approval of the City
Council. He also questioned how he might find out what monies the City is receiving from
all outside sources.
The City Manager responded that he can come by City Hall and obtain a copy of the
budget, which will answer his questions regazding monies being received from outside
sources. He also encouraged Mr. Hirt to come by with a copy of his water bill so that staff
could help him understand the chazges and where they aze coming from.
C. Al Rosenga, 534 Parrott Street, addressed the Council regazding having received a
survey regazding speaker cards and timing of speakers at Council Meetings.
