Ken Joseph stated that procedures are in place for <br />recycling all materials from this demolition project that can be recycled. <br />3. Discussion Regarding Parking Garage <br />Ken Joseph gave an overview regarding the Downtown Garage. <br />• Downtown Garage <br />o Creation of 18 -month temporary parking lot(s) to accommodate vehicles during <br />demolition of current parking structure and construction of new 225 -space <br />structure <br />o New structure will be 4 -story (370 spaces) to 5 -story (460 spaces) <br />o Project includes office space improvements for the Chamber of Commerce <br />o Plaza del Oro will be replaced/upgraded with a connection to E. 14th Street <br />• Temporary Parking During Construction <br />o 246 parking stalls displaced, but 242 temporary stalls to be created (190 at former <br />Albertson's site and 52 at former Chamber site) <br />o South side of Callan to be closed to pedestrians during construction <br />o Canopy will be provided along Estudillo for pedestrian protection <br />o Temporary barricade will be installed to separate the Plaza from demolition and <br />construction activities <br />o Some aspects of construction may require short term pedestrian, vehicle or <br />building restrictions <br />o Wells Fargo ATMs to be relocated to E. 14th Street frontage with short term <br />parking provided in Regency lot across E. 14th Street <br />• New Parking Structure <br />o Architecturally pleasing appearance with enhanced vertical lines incorporated to <br />break up the mass of the building <br />o Colors and materials selected to complement the architecture of the Main Library <br />Facilities and Transportation Committee Page 4 <br />Meeting Highlights 5/12/09 <br />
