Adjustment to Fee's and Services Charge Schedule 2 June 15, 2009
New Boat Launch Fees:
On May 26, 2009 Public Works staff presented to the Shoreline Marina Committee pilot
program options for new boat launch fees. After public comments, discussion and consideration,
the Committee indicated that they will recommend to City Council for staff to proceed with the
implementation of the pilot program's proposed boat launch fees of $10 per day and $100 per
calendar year.
FISCAL IMPACT
New Temporary Parking Fees:
Staff estimates that the proposed changes for parking fees will generate an estimated revenue
reduction of $60,000. However, building maintenance fees are not required for the "old" garage
which should produce a $60,000 savings in expenditures. Therefore, this proposal will not have
a negative impact on the Fiscal Year 2009-10 budget.
New Boat Launch Fees:
Staff estimates that the pilot program's proposed new boat launch fees will generate an estimated
increase in revenues of $5,000 and an increase in expenditures of $1,500 for the fee collection
system. This proposed pilot program will be reviewed six months after approval to determine
the financial viability.
Analysis
N/A
Current City Council Policy
Staff submits fee recommendations to City Council in conjunction with the annual budget
process.
Previous City Council Action(s)
Fee schedule approved in May 4, 2009
City Council Committee Review and Action
The Business and Housing Development Committee recommended for approval on May 14,
2009, the establishment of new temporary parking fees.
The Shoreline Marina Committee recommended for approval on May 26, 2009, the
establishment of the pilot program for new boat launch fees.
Applicable General Plan Policy
N/A
Permits and/or Variances Granted
N/A
Environmental Review
N/A
