6.21 OPTIONAL TASK: Translation Services
Translation Services for Public Meetings
Under this optional task, a bilingual member of the Kimley-Horn team would attend up to four
public meetings to provide Spanish-translation services. Additional meetings could be attended,
if requested. The time and materials cost per meeting would be $375.
6.2.2 OPTIONAL TASK: Comprehensive Way Finding Plan
As an optional task, team member DC&E will develop a comprehensive wayfinding plan, which
will include and expand on the conceptual plan developed under Task 2.5.
Coordination with Key Stakeholders
Our team will conduct a meeting with key stakeholders to present the conclusions and
recommendations of the conceptual wayfinding plan. We will coordinate with City staff to help
ensure that the appropriate stakeholders are identified and invited to attend. The primary purpose
of this meeting will be to obtain feedback on the conceptual wayfinding plan developed under
Task 2.5.
Refine Conceptual Plan
Based on the input received at the stakeholder meeting, our team will refine the maps developed
as part of Tasks 2.5.3 and 2.5-4. The refinements will attempt to balance divergent input received
from stakeholders.
Develop Comprehensive Plan
Based on revisions to the connections map and key decision point map, we will conduct a follow
up field visit of the study area. Following the field visit, the Kimley-Horn team will produce a
comprehensive wayfinding plan. The plan will consist of the updated maps and a specific set of
recommendations. The recommendations will address specific signage types, locations in the
study area where signage should be implemented, and a suggested hierarchy at physical points
where multiple signage options exist.
As part of the comprehensive plan, we will present a menu of graphic design concepts to
illustrate the appearance of recommended wayfinding signage. The design concepts will consider
the unique informational needs of bicycles, pedestrians, and motorists along key connections and
at key destinations throughout study area. The concepts will also consider how the mobility of
these groups could be enhanced through improvements specific to the interface between these
connections and destinations.
Our team members will verify that the signage design concepts are compatible with other design
features potentially incorporated in the larger interface plan. We will also coordinate with City
staff to help ensure that the concepts are consistent with any style guidelines or restrictions
pertaining to exterior signage.
San Leandro Blvd-BART Interface Plan June, 2009
33 of 38
