Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 6 - <br />Redevelopment Agency Meeting - February 3, 1997 <br />Council to approve the Letter of Intent; she noted the project cannot <br />move forward without the Letter. She introduced Mr. David Irmer, <br />Developer. <br />Mr. Irmer commented on the positive impression by the youth of the <br />community. He presented the project's history and earlier proposals. <br />He described the proposed project and the desire for high-quality and <br />financially stable tenants. He reviewed the site plan and list of <br />tenants. He estimated that 80% of the project would be leased within <br />the next 60 days. He commented on the assistance provided by the Friends <br />of the Creek. <br />Council Member Galvan said he is excited by the proposal and appreciates <br />the economics behind the mix of tenants. He suggested moving tenants <br />around to create a "restaurant row." <br />Council Member Glaze commented on the good mix of tenants, the lack of <br />liquor sales at Walgreen's, desirable restaurant use, and positive work, <br />including the creek area. <br />Council Member Loeffler commented on the Toler Street bridge and <br />accessibility to the site. He encouraged a book store use. He said it <br />was good to include the Friends of the Creek. <br />Council Member Young agreed that it was good to include the Friends of <br />the Creek, asked about the height of the loading area, and the effect on <br />the creek. She asked for clarification regarding the Letter of Intent. <br />Vice Mayor Polvorosa congratulated Mr. Irmer on the designs. He said he <br />has concerns about the appearance of the loading dock and said the <br />community does not need adrive-through at Walgreen's. <br />Mayor Corbett encouraged a book store use, noted her appreciation for <br />the creek-walk access, sensitivity to the condominium residents, and <br />said there was some concern over the design and noise issues. <br />Council Member Galvan commented on signage and use. <br />Council Member Lothrop commented on a desire for consistent design <br />throughout the community. <br />Mayor Corbett said this location serves as a gateway to the community. <br />
