Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 3 - <br />Redevelopment Agency Meeting - February 18, 1997 <br />The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, asked if the property owner <br />residing in Los Angeles had been notified. He said he agrees with the <br />property owners, hopes there is no confusion in the community, and <br />suggested placing a small park in the area. <br />There being no further comments from the public, the Public Hearing was <br />closed. <br />M/S/C Polvorosa and Galvan. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />Council Member Glaze commented on the easement between the Post Office <br />and the McManus properties. Associate Engineer Ken Joseph noted that a <br />sewer line is located there. <br />Vice Mayor Polvorosa asked for clarification on the easement location <br />and associated costs. <br />Council Member Galvan asked about alternatives. <br />Council Member Loeffler commented on the devaluation of the property and <br />possible alternatives with the Post Office. <br />Council Member Young asked if staff had reviewed the alternatives and <br />the urgency of the project. Ken Joseph noted the potential timeline and <br />weather restrictions. <br />Council Member Young said she would like more time for consideration of <br />the project. <br />Council Member Glaze commented on the current location of the sewer and <br />sanitary lines and questioned re-use of the easements. <br />Council Member Lothrop asked for clarification on the location of the <br />railroad spurs and the potential affect on future property development. <br />Council Member Galvan commented on the construction time and asked the <br />property owners for their plans for future development. <br />Mayor Corbett noted the cost issues and confirmed with staff that this <br />was the least expensive and least intrusive alternative. She asked if <br />the Post Office had been notified. <br />Interim City Manager Wandzia Grycz suggested staff bring the issue back <br />to the City Council in 2-3 weeks. <br />Mr. McManus thanked the staff for their cooperation and noted that, if <br />this is the least expensive alternative, it would benefit future <br />development at Golden Gate Seafood. <br />
