Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />The following Resolution and Ordinance were then introduced: <br />- Resolution No. 97-14, Resolution Approving the Negative Declaration <br />Related to the Bikeway Plan of the Circulation Element of the General <br />Plan. (1977/1428/1925) <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Young. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />- Ordinance No. 97-03, An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of <br />San Leandro Amending the Circulation Element of the General Plan to <br />Include a Bikeway Plan. (1428/1925) <br />- Passed to Print <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Young. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />4. PUBLIC CQMMENTS <br />Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited <br />to make any comments related to Agenda items, or other items of public <br />interest, at this time. <br />1. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, commented on Prop. 218 and the upcoming <br />school bond. He asked where the previous school bond money had gone and <br />questioned the school lottery proceeds. He asked about the Local Agency <br />Investment Fund (LAIF). <br />2. Roberto Flotte, Representing Safeway Preserve Plant, said it had been <br />closed without notification to the employees. He asked the Council to <br />send a letter to Safeway regarding their concerns. He said the <br />negotiations are anti-union. He said Media Copy is deporting employees, <br />and W.R. Grace Co. is discriminating against women. <br />Council Member Glaze asked the City Attorney to look into plant-closure <br />notification deadlines. Council Member Loeffler suggested the Chamber <br />be informed as well. <br />3. Alfredo Flotte, Local #6 Representative, commented on Media Copy and the <br />employees desiring to join a union. He said there will be <br />demonstrations. He said police had been in the area. He asked for <br />Council assistance. <br />4. John Lopes, 2811 Windsor Drive, Alameda, commented on the W.R. Grace <br />issue. He said it should be brought to the City Council; women are <br />equally capable and are not receiving the jobs. <br />
