Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council, Page - 3 - <br />San Leandro Economic Development Agency, San Leandro <br />Industrial Development Authority, San Leandro Parking Authority, <br />San Leandro Public Financing Authority, and San Leandro <br />Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting - June 16, 1997 <br />Council Member Young verified that the Applicant would have to get the <br />clearances and permits necessary for mitigation of the hazardous <br />materials from the gas station on the site. It was also noted that <br />drainage would have to be accommodated on this site and meet the Clean <br />Water Act. It was additionally clarified that there is no additional <br />open space in this planned unit development. <br />Council Member Glaze clarified that the developer would be paying park <br />in-lieu fees. <br />The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br />Joe Savio, 14485 Wiley Street, President of Bonaire Civic League, Inc., <br />addressed the Council, stating Waterford and Associates made a <br />presentation to their homeowners' association, and it was greatly <br />appreciated. At the meeting, the Bonaire Civic League approved the <br />homes going in. He added that Waterford and Associates were very <br />professional throughout this entire process. <br />Sean Taylor, Architect for the Project, addressed the Gouncil and <br />explained the project in greater detail. <br />Council Member Polvorosa expressed his gratitude for the effort that <br />Waterford and Associates made in working with the homeowners' and <br />associations. <br />Fritz Wooster, Waterford and Associates, 4040 Civic Center Drive, San <br />Rafael, addressed the Council, thanking Joe Savio, Norm Weisbrod, and <br />Steve Emslie for their cooperation and support through this process. He <br />noted the 13-foot driveway in question had been changed to an 18-foot <br />driveway. He added that the studies are done and the clean-up work on <br />the site should begin soon. He further stated they would like to begin <br />work on the new homes in late summer/early fall, and the construction <br />loan is committed. They are anxious to proceed and thanked all those <br />involved for their support. <br />Ed Suchman, 14336 Wiley Street, addressed the Council and asked if there <br />are any bedrooms slated for downstairs to address any disabled persons <br />that would be interested in the housing and whether the developer would <br />be using union help to build the homes. He expressed concern with the <br />possibility of persons picketing if union labor was not used. He <br />concluded by stating his support for the project. <br />Laverne Anderson, 1495 - 159th Street, addressed the Council in favor of <br />the project. He noted that he is a member of the Bonaire Civic League, <br />also, and owns a home on Cypress Street. He is in favor of the single- <br />family houses there and went on to express his concerns with the state <br />of the property as it is now, noting there have been problems with <br />
