Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Page - 9 - <br />September 15, 1997 <br />The following Resolution was then introduced: <br />Resolution No. 97-124, Resolution Approving Joint Powers Agreement <br />Relating to Direct Access Electric Aggregation Agreement By and <br />Between the Association of Bay Area Governments and the City of <br />San Leandro (allows the City to participate in the ABAG purchasing <br />consortium for electricity and gas). (1003) <br />M/S/C Polvorosa and Loeffler. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Galvan <br />D. Report on Glosed Session Actions Taken. <br />The City Attorney reported there was no action taken. <br />7, OPEN FORUM <br />Open Forum is limited to 3 minutes maximum per speaker, 15 minutes <br />total. <br />A. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council and <br />clarified that the tree trimmers approved under Consent will not <br />be trimming trees around power lines. He questioned how many <br />people are aware that PG&E is going out of the power business? He <br />spoke further on de-regulation issues and stated that, whatever <br />you do with power, the citizens end up paying for it. He asked <br />the Council if they knew Alameda has their own power plant. <br />B. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council, asking if <br />the City is ever going to do anything about East 14th Street in <br />front of City Hall. He asked if there are any plans for a traffic <br />light in front of Mission Bay. Staff responded there are no plans <br />for a light in front of Mission Bay Mobile Home Park at this time. <br />8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br />Vice Mayor Loeffler commented on the National League of Cities <br />"Your City's Families" Conference in Los Angeles last week. He <br />noted 300 other cities were in attendance, and the City of <br />Pasadena has adopted a City and Youth Policy. He suggested the <br />City of San Leandro would benefit by reviewing the policy, as well <br />as the other ideas that were shared at the conference. <br />B. Reports on City Council Subcommittees <br />Vice Mayor Loeffler briefly reported on the recent Technology <br />Subcommittee Meeting where issues regarding Council Member use of <br />the Internet, fax machines, computers, printers, and pagers were <br />discussed. <br />
