Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 11 -
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - December 15, 1997
The following Resolution was then introduced:
Resolution No. 97-169, Resolution Approving Contractual Services
Agreement with Jansen Consulting for Development of a Downtown
Revitalization Plan (provides for property-owner outreach, a marketing
study, tenant-recruitment strategy, and urban design). Cost:
$50,000.00 (2323)
M/S/C Lothrop and Loeffler. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0
H. Matter of San Leandro General Municipal Election, June 2, 1998.
Vice Mayor Loeffler brought up the issue of the City Charter requiring
that a Vice Mayor be selected in the month of May each year and
questioned how that will be affected by having the election in June.
The City Attorney responded that he will look into what options Council
might have. He said, perhaps, the Vice Mayor could be selected in May;
and, if that person was up for re-election and was not re-elected,
another Vice Mayor could be selected after the election. He will report
back to Council on the options Council might have with regard to the
selection of the Vice Mayor given the current City Charter.
The following Ordinance and Resolutions were then introduced:
- Ordinance No. 97-034, An Ordinance Establishing Election and
Nomination Procedures for the June 2, 1998, General Municipal
Election and Declaring This Ordinance to Be an Urgency Measure
Necessary for an Election. (1055)
- Passed to Print and Adopted
M/S/C Glaze and Polvorosa. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0
- Resolution No. 97-170, Resolution Providing for the Holding of a
General Municipal Election for the Election of a Mayor and Three City
Council Members; Providing Notice of Election on the 2nd Day of June,
1998, and Directing That Said Notice Be Given; and Requesting That
the Alameda County Board of Supervisors Permit the Consolidation of
Said Municipal Election with the Statewide Election to Be Held on
June 2, 1998. (1055)
M/S/C Loeffler and Polvorosa. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0
- Resolution No. 97-171, Resolution Establishing Regulations Pursuant
to the California Elections Code for the 1998 General Municipal
Election (establishes regulations related to candidates'
statements).
