The geotechnical task shall be performed primarily for investigation and preparation of a <br />foundation report for the bridge and retaining wall. <br />Existing borings and Report shall be utilized for information as much as possible and <br />supplement with additional borings at selected locations. Supplemental boring locations <br />shall depend upon the field conditionsi the results of the compilation of the available data; <br />and bepre-approved by the City. The Geotechnical Engineering scope for the connecting <br />trail maybe adjusted based on the preliminary report. <br />City shall obtain necessary encroachment permits from the regulatory agencies for the <br />Geotechnical Consultant to do the field exploration work. <br />Subtask 2.4 Preliminary Design <br />Consultant shall perform preliminary design of the project. The intent of the preliminary <br />design is to develop alternatives for the alignment and profile of the trail and prepare bridge <br />general plan for the steel truss pedestrian bridge. <br />Subtask 2.4.1 Civil Design <br />Consultant shall design and prepare preliminary trail alignment and profile drawings for the <br />project. These drawings shall be developed based on developed design criteria. <br />Consultant shall coordinate with the City of San Leandro and all affected utility and other <br />agencies impacted by the proposed improvements, including but not limited to Port of <br />Oakland and East Bay Regional Park District. Consultant shall contact utility companies and <br />identify potential conflicts. <br />Consultant shall evaluate widening the trail at the levee top utilizing retaining wall on the <br />north (Port of Oakland) side. <br />Subtask 2.4.2 Bridge Design <br />The Consultant shall be responsible to perform constructabilityrevfew of the proposed bridge <br />and prepare Bridge General Plan. <br />Subtask 2.4.3 Preliminary Design Report Development <br />Consultant shall prepare Preliminary Design Report to discuss design alternatives and <br />associated preliminary engineer cost estimate. <br />Consultant shall meet with City staff to discuss design alternatives, to compile comments and <br />suggestions, and to document agreed upon changes and/or revisions to the project design. <br />Recon~unended revisions to the trail alignment and bridge layout shall be incorporated as <br />Bay Trail Slough Bridge July 19, 2004 <br />Project No. 144-39-012 Page 17 of 2b <br />
