Science, Zoological Science, Animal Life, Marine Life, Nature, and Environmental <br />Science. These materials will complement and augment the curriculum of the school <br />district and meet approved content standards. <br />3. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTIES <br />A. The San Leandro Unified School District <br />(l) The District will provide teachers and students who will use the San Leandro <br />Bayside Education Center to teach/learn district approved science, nature, and <br />environmental units. The Center, located at the Mulford-Marina Branch Library <br />will be an alternative local site for the District to use for ongoing science programs <br />due to the proximity of the Branch Library to the San Leandro Marina. <br />(2) The District will provide resource and educational learning materials for the use of <br />teachers and students accessing the Bayside Education Center. <br />(3) The District will have joint use of the Mulford-Marina Branch Library's Education <br />Center to augment enrichment programs, such as Gifted and Talented Education <br />(GATE), or other school programs that offer extra-curricular learning opportunities <br />for students. <br />(4) The District will create science activities for students and their families who will use <br />these available school resources at the Branch Library. <br />(5) The District will provide recommended and appropriate support tools such as <br />bibliographies, listing of web sites, and pathfinders for Grades K-5 access to science <br />materials. <br />(6) The District will make available at least one copy of authorized science textbooks <br />used in the Grades l -5 Curriculum. There are no Kindergarten textbooks. <br />(7) The District will provide Science Content Standards for California Public Schools, <br />K-5, or other approved Standards, which will include the essential skills and <br />knowledge students will need to be scientifically literate citizens. <br />(8) The District will communicate with Library staff regarding class homework <br />assignments and coordinate library reserves of limited materials. <br />(9) The District will provide communications to parents and the community regarding <br />services available at the Mulford-Marina Branch Library through district and school <br />newsletters and the district web site. <br />4 <br />
