MINUTES Page 13 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Hillside Geologic Hazard Abatement District, and San Leandro <br />Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting .Iuly 20, 2009 <br />1. Business and Housing Development Committee Meeting of July 9, 2009. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Prola commented that he concurred with the recommendation to <br />enter into an Exclusive Negotiating Rights Agreement with Innisfree Companies, <br />and he commended the Committee for its choice. <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br />a. Schedule adoption of an 18-month Exclusive Negotiating Rights Agreement <br />with the Imusfree Companies for the development of 1550 East 14~' Street <br />and Town Hall Square. <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br />2. Shoreline-Marina Committee: Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory <br />Committee Meeting of June 17, 2009. Accepted as submitted. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMI~~NTS <br />Councilmember Reed thanked the Police Department for the response to an auto accident <br />involving her mother at East 14th and Davis Streets. Councilmember Reed expressed her <br />appreciation to Councilmember Souza. for her comment at last Monday's work session. <br />Councilmember Reed agreed with Councilmember Souza's comment that work sessions are <br />best used by the Council as a forum to discuss and work through issues together, rather than <br />purely for presentation and lecture. She expressed interest in having work sessions on ranked <br />choice voting and Measure WW in September. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak agreed with Councilmember Reed's idea to hold a work session on <br />Measure WW, and suggested that it be the only item on the work session agenda. Vice <br />Mayor Starosciak attended the kickoff meeting for the I-580 sound wall project; the Bay Trail <br />Slough Bridge groundbreaking; the San Leandro Aquatics Center Hawaiian Pool Party and <br />the Day at the Casa, Vice Mayor Starosciak requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in <br />memory of Marie Underwood, a passionate San Leandro activist for many years; and in <br />memory of Dan Niemi, the San Leandro police officer who was killed in the line of duty four <br />years ago. <br />Councilmember Prola commented that he attended the I-580 sound wall meeting; the <br />Chamber of Commerce's Coffee Connection and Government Affairs Committee meeting; <br />the Alameda County Board of Supervisors' meeting on San Leandro Hospital; the retirement <br />reception for Device Moughon, the Mayor's Executive Assistant; the San Leandro Sports <br />Foundation meeting; and the Democratic Club picnic. Councilmember Prola spoke at the <br />groundbreaking of the Bay Trail Slough Bridge. Regarding the Coffee Connection, <br />Councilmember Prola remarked that he was impressed by the many positive people in the <br />group, given the state of the economy.
