How many abandoned recreational vessels within your jurisdiction do you expect to remove <br />over the next 2-3 years? <br />3 <br />15 <br />2. How will this award enhance recreational boating in your area? <br />i <br />1 <br />It will enable the City of San Leandro to remove abandoned <br />vessels from the oublic waterways. These vessels pose a threat <br />to the safety of the public and to the health of the environment. a <br />Their removal will mitigate these hazards and create space for ~ <br />recreational boating activities. <br />3. Does your agency have a local enforcement program to control and prevent the <br />abandonment of watercraft within your jurisdiction? Do you have a submerged <br />navigational hazard abatement plan? If so, describe or attach pertinent documentation <br />such as excerpts from an operations manual. <br />Yes. The program is. in the =first phase working a~ith the Alameda j <br />County Fire Ueoartment. ~r~ey have recently stationed a patrol <br />~~iess2i ;n the ~~~arira and ~.~~~ ~.:~orking on the Operations Manual. <br />Floating and submerged debris is recovered by City staff and <br />_____~secured outside the navigable waterway. <br />-i:. Local agencies are required to make a 1 U percent cash or "in kind" contribution to the <br />funding award.
