She thanked the City for being a <br />supporter of SLED and stated how SLED is good for the community and beneficial to the City. <br />She continued to list SLED's progress: educational outreach to Homeowner's Associations, <br />Service Clubs, Business Associations and Corporations; continual grant search; and continued <br />work on its Strategic Plan, as well as its website: www.sledfiind.org. <br />Board Member Mack -Rose expressed her gratitude for making SLED work. She stated that <br />there is a need to communicate that SLED funds will benefit all children. Interim Assistant City <br />Manager Diaz stated that in order for SLED to gain credibility in the community. A strategic <br />plan will help identify guidelines for goals and focus. <br />4. Budget Updates <br />• San Leandro Unified School District <br />Assistant Superintendent Chin-Bendib gave a PowerPoint presentation (attached) on the <br />status of the District's budget. <br />Mayor Santos excused himself at 5:22 p.m. <br />• City of San Leandro <br />City Manager Hollister gave a brief overview and status of the City's budget. He stated that <br />the City's Finance Department has developed a five-year budget forecast model, which will <br />help to calculate different budget scenarios for the future. He also stated that the ballot <br />measure polling results would be presented and made public at the October 5 City Council <br />meeting. He conveyed that he is very positive at the outcome of the recession. He <br />complimented City staff on their creativity in working on budget solutions. <br />A discussion on the ballot measures ensued. Councilmember Gregory commented that the <br />interactive five-year budget model vividly illustrates various scenarios. <br />5. Update on Measure B and Tax Credits <br />Assistant Superintendent Chin-Bendib gave a short PowerPoint presentation (attached) on the <br />McKinley Elementary School's renovated bathrooms. She stated that out of 130 districts <br />applying for Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCB), the District received a <br />$25 million tax free loan, of which $10 million will be used for Measure B projects. <br />A discussion ensued on the San Leandro High School Pool and Burrell Field projects. <br />7.
