IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION N0.2009-144 (2318) <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 5 OF THE SAN LEANDRO <br />ADMINISTRATIVE CODE RELATED TO AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES <br />ACT/SECTION 504 OF THE REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973 <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Rehabilitation Act (Section 504) was enacted in 1973 and the <br />Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was enacted in 1990, both with the purpose of ensuring <br />and protecting access for disabled individuals to government services and programs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is recommended that the San Leandro Administrative Code include <br />language related to appointments of the staff members assigned with the responsibilities of <br />coordinating the City of San Leandro's compliance with Section 504 and the ADA, as well as <br />language formalizing the City of San Leandro's Reasonable Accommodation Policy and Grievance <br />Policy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />That Title 2, Chapter 5, of the San Leandro Administrative Code is adopted to read as <br />follows: <br />SAN LEANDRO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE <br />TITLE 2 CITY MANAGER <br />Chapter 5 Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act <br />of 1973 <br />2.5.100: SECTION 504 COORDINATOR AND ADA COORDINATOR The City of <br />San Leandro Section 504 Coordinator shall be the Housing Specialist I in the Community <br />Development Department, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator will be the <br />Community Relations Representative in the City Manager's Office. <br />The 504 Coordinator and ADA Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating the efforts of the <br />City of San Leandro to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of <br />the Americans with Disabilities Act, respectively as they pertain to services, programs, events, <br />activities, facilities and public meetings. The respective coordinator shall investigate complaints <br />that the City or the City's subrecipients of Federal funding have violated statutes or regulations <br />under the Acts, or other state or federal laws relating to persons with disabilities. <br />
