MINUTES Page 14 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-December 7, 2009 <br />C. Reports on City Council Committees <br />L Airport Committee Meeting of November 6, 2009. Accepted as submitted. <br />Mayor Santos commented on his work with staff to resolve an issue with the noise <br />insulation program agreement. <br />2. Facilities and Transportation Committee Meeting of November 10, 2009. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Prola stated that he would like to attend a walk through of the <br />Senior Center. Councilmember Reed noted that if a quorum of the Council <br />participates, the tour would need to be noticed to the public. Mayor Santos <br />offered to call a special meeting to allow as many of the Council to attend as want <br />to go. <br />Mayor Santos supported naming the slough bridge after former State Treasurer <br />Bill Lockyer. <br />3. Finance Committee Meeting of November 17, 2009. Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Souza stated that she hoped the City continued to work with <br />Westlake Development and BRIDGE Housing to ensure their funding is secured, <br />in order to keep The Alameda at San Leandro Crossings project moving forward. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Reed expressed thanks to the following: to the East Bay Regional Park <br />District (EBRPD) for the helicopter tour with Vice Mayor Starosciak and Fremont Vice <br />Mayor Anu Natarajan; to Joann Oliver and the Recreation and Human Services staff for the <br />Thanksgiving lunch for seniors at the Main Library; to the Chamber of Commerce for making <br />new businesses feel appreciated; and to members of the DC Dance Center for their <br />performance at the annual Tree Lighting. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak added her thanks to EBRPD for the helicopter ride; to the Recreation <br />and Human Services Department for the Thanksgiving lunch at the Marina Community <br />Center; and to City staff for the Service Awards Dinner. She reported on a petition drive to <br />bring World Cup soccer to Oakland in 2018 or 2022. She attended the opening of the <br />Washington Manor Middle School gymnasium. <br />Councilmember Prola reported that he attended the Service Awards dinner, and he thanked all <br />the City employees for the sacrifices made during tough budget times. He agreed with <br />Councilmember Reed that the Chamber is making a special effort to outreach to small <br />businesses. He also attended the ribbon-cutting for the Washington Manor gym; the Chamber <br />multi-cultural mixer; and the Tree Lighting. Councilmember Prola helped serve <br />
