Ranked Choice Voting (continued) 6 January ] 9, 2010 <br />Attachments <br />• December 4, 2009 Letter from Secretary of State Debra Bowen, approving the use of <br />Sequoia Ranked Choice Voting system in Alameda County <br />• January 11, 2010 City Attorney Opinion-Instant Run-off Voting/Rank Choice Voting <br />Procedure <br />• Memorandum of Understanding Between the County of Alameda and the Cities of Oakland, <br />Berkeley and San Leandro <br />CONCLUSION <br />If the Council wishes to implement Ranked Choice Voting for 2010, it should take the following <br />actions: <br />• Adopt a resolution, approving the Memorandum of Understanding Between the County of <br />Alameda and the Cities of Oakland, Berkeley and San Leandro <br />• Direct staff to return on February 1, 2010 with the documents necessary to change the <br />General Municipal Election date from June 8, 2010 to November 2, 2010 <br />If the Council does not wish to implement Ranked Choice Voting for 2010, it should <br />• Direct staff to return on February 1, 2010 with the documents necessary to call the General <br />Municipal Election on June 8, 2010 <br />
