Pedestrian Improvements -Sidewalk Repair 2009-10 <br />Accepting the work 2 May 3, 2010 <br />The contractor performed sidewalk grinding repairs to East 14th Street (northern to southern City <br />limits), Dutton Avenue, Bancroft Avenue, the Downtown Plaza area, and the area adjacent to the <br />Main Library including Estudillo Avenue, Callan Street, and Santa Rosa Street. The project <br />resulted in significantly reducing the number of tripping hazards and improving walking <br />conditions in these areas. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />On November 2, 2009, by Resolution No. 2009-145, the City Council approved the <br />specifications and called for bids for the subject project <br />On December 21, 2009, by Resolution No. 2009-166, the City Council awarded the contract <br />to RP Engineering Contractors <br />Applicable General Plan Policy <br />52.07 Maintenance -Ensure sufficient funding is provided for the ongoing maintenance of City- <br />owned facilities including streets, street lights, traffic signals, landscaping, street trees, storm <br />drains, public buildings, and other infrastructure. <br />Environmental Review <br />This project was Categorically Exempt. <br />Summary of Public Outreach Efforts <br />Not applicable; project enhanced existing facilities with no negative impact to the public. <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The total cost of the project was $24,695.05. The cost of the construction contract was as <br />follows: <br />Original Contract $21,000.00 <br />Contract Change Orders $0 <br />Total Contract Amount $21,000.00 <br />BudEet Authority <br />Pedestrian Accessibility Improvements (TDA funds) were allocated in the Fiscal Year 2009- <br />2010budget in the amount of $25,000 (Account No. 150-36-289). <br />CONCLUSION <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work and filing of the Notice of Completion for the subject <br />project. <br />G:\_Admin\COLTNCIL\2010\5 MAY 3\Pedestrian Sidewalk Repair - ACCEPT1Sidewalk Repair Accept MEM.DOCX <br />
