MINUTES Page 12 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-May 3, 2010 <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Stephens, seconded by Councilmember Souza, <br />nominating Councilmember Reed as Vice Mayor. <br />• Minute Order No. 2010-023, Motion Appointing Councilmember Ursula Reed <br />as Vice Mayor. <br />The City Council appointed Councilmember Ursula Reed as Vice Mayor. <br />M/S/C Stephens and Souza. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />Mayor Santos presented a plaque to outgoing Vice Mayor Starosciak, in appreciation of <br />her service as vice mayor over the past year. <br />C. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken <br />None. <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />City Councilmembers report on their activities, including attendance at Intergovernmental <br />Agency meetings, conferences and seminars, and local events, and make brief announcements <br />on issues of concern. <br />Councilmember Reed thanked the Council for selecting her as vice mayor. Councilmember <br />Reed attended the Bike San Leandro event, and applauded Councilmember Gregory for <br />leading the bike ride at Lake Chabot. She attended the April 22 Association of Bay Area <br />Governments (ABAG) conference, and provided handouts from the conference to the <br />Council. Councilmember Reed asked about the possibility of erecting a locator sign for <br />Bayfair Center. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak thanked the Council for allowing her to serve as vice mayor for the <br />past year, and she congratulated Councilmember Reed on her election to the position. Vice <br />Mayor Starosciak requested an update on the status of the Marina dog park. She expressed <br />disappointment over the cancellation of the Arbor Day celebration due to rain, and reported <br />that she visited the new San Lorenzo Unified School District kitchen facility and attended the <br />Taste of San Leandro. Vice Mayor Starosciak requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned <br />in memory of Ted Taylor, along-time resident of Mission Bay who was active on Mission <br />Bay's rent review committee. <br />Councilmember Prola reported on his attendance at the following meetings and events: the <br />Oakland Airport Community Noise Forum meeting; the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Ideal <br />Plumbing; the third Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee meeting; the Taste of San <br />Leandro; and Bike San Leandro. He commented favorably on the recent compost program, <br />and congratulated Councilmember Gregory on the bike trip around Lake Chabot. <br />Councilmember Prola thanked Vice Mayor Starosciak for her service as vice mayor this year, <br />and congratulated new Vice Mayor Reed. <br />
