Rose Johnson and Dawn Valadez, Davis Street Family Resource Center (DSFRC), addressed the City Council, expressing support for the Kaiser Permanente project. Ms. Johnson commented that Kaiser provides free physical therapy services to DSFRC clients, as well as "safety net" grants to non-profit agencies. Ms. Valadez commented on Kaiser's community forums and the organization's willingness to outreach and listen to the community. Rene Mendieta, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that the Kaiser Permanente project would provide a needed economic stimulus to the City. Arturo Gonzales, Morrison & Foerster, addressed the City Council, rebutting comments made by previous speakers, and providing assurance that his firm would assist the City in the defense of any challenge to the project. There being no further comments from the public, and without objection, the Public Hearing was closed. Mayor Santos noted that there are no immediate plans for the mixed use/retail component of the project.
