Minutes - San Leandro City Council /Redevelopment Agency Meeting Page - 8 -
February 5, 1996
PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued)
In response to questions, Mr. Norton said a delay to March 4,1996,
could be a hardship. Mayor Corbett suggested continuing the matter
without a date, monitoring progress, and bringing it back to Council
before March 4, if possible.
Mr. Norton said he would prefer continuing the hearing to February 20,
1996.
After continued discussion, the City Council did not agree to a
February 20th date. They noted that extensive studies have been
conducted related to traffic impact. Council Member Loeffler said an
opportunity for dialog between the unions and the developer should be
provided. Council Member Perry said March 4th provides for meeting
prior to that time and the matter can be brought back earlier with
proper noticing. Council Members Kerr and Galvan said they did not see
the need for additional staff analysis related to traffic and parking.
They said the outstanding issue is the use of the local work force and
the labor issue.
The City Attorney said the motion is to continue the land -use issue and
to request that the potential lessee work with representatives of
organized labor to see if arrangements can be made to meet their needs.
There was no consensus for a February 20th continuance.
The following Motion was then introduced by Council Member Myers:
On motion by Council Member Myers, who moved its approval, seconded by
Council Member Polvorosa, with Council Member Kerr voting no (1), and
carried by a majority vote (6), the City Council continued the matter
of Appeal by James C. Prola and Alfred J. Fernandes of Board of Zoning
Adjustments' Approval of CU -95 -17 to the March 4, 1996, City Council
Meeting and directed staff to get together with the Appellant and the
Developer and see that they have an opportunity to work out
differences.
- Resolution Approving Parcel Map 6768 (South Dike Road, San Leandro
Marina, Lease Parcel - Marriott Residence Inn) (provides for the
creation of lease parcel to accommodate the proposed Marriott
Residence Inn, 3 acres + / -).
On motion by Council Member Perry, who moved its approval, seconded
by Council Member Kerr, and carried by a majority vote (7), the City
Council continued the Resolution regarding Parcel Map 6768 to the
March 4, 1996, City Council meeting.
