Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 15, 1996 Page - 9 -
NEW BUSINESS (continued)
Mayor Corbett said the Council directed the City Manager to go forward
and look at particular points, including debris pickup. She said she
thinks there is room to see if adjustments can be made based upon green
waste use in multi - family units. Mr. Taylor said staff can talk to the
multi - family unit owners; but the provider of the service has based his
rates on certain levels of participation and certain numbers of units,
so funding would have to come from somewhere else. Mayor Corbett noted
there is still a 10% discount for multi - family units. Mayor Corbett
asked questions regarding the ownership of bins and the length of the
contract. The City Manager said Mr. Wen gave a series of options, and
the prices were lowest based on a 10 -year contract.
Mayor Corbett noted a lower rate of $4.85 could be offered if 96- gallon
containers were not offered. She said she would like to see the City
pursue that option; the 96- gallon containers could be offered for sale.
She asked what the rest of the Council Members thought about it.
The following Resolution was then introduced:
Resolution No. 96 -57, Resolution Approving Agreement Between the City
of San Leandro and San Leandro Recycling, Inc., for Implementation of
the Curbside Recycling Program. (2323/1934)
Introduced by Council Member Myers, who moved its adoption, seconded by
Council Member Galvan, with Mayor Corbett voting no (1), Council Member
Kerr abstaining (1), Council Member Loeffler absent (1), and carried by
a majority vote (4).
B.
