Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 17, 1996 Page - 13 -
NEW BUSINESS (continued)
In response to Council questions, the City Attorney said the
proposal is in compliance with the grant deed; and Mr. Bohne said
the site has been referred to the Library- Historical Commission,
which unanimously approved demolition of the old building.
The following Motion was then introduced:
Minute Order No. 96 -21, Motion authorizing City Manager to transfer
additional funds for the completion of seismic improvements at the
Casa Peralta and construction of kitchen and restroom accessibility
upgrades. (1915)
On motion by Council Member Loeffler, who moved its approval,
seconded by Council Member Polvorosa, and carried by a majority vote
(7), the City Council authorized the City Manager to transfer
additional funds for the completion of seismic improvements at the
Casa Peralta and construction of kitchen and restroom accessibility
upgrades.
- East 14th Street Median.
Mayor Corbett said action was also necessary on the East 14th Street
median project which was discussed at Work Session. Council Member
Glaze said he would like to look for alternative funding. Council
Member Galvan said they should give approval so the project can move
forward, then ask staff to look at alternative funding. Council
• Member Loeffler recommended going forward with the full test of the
project.
Gary Kruger, Transportation Administrator, described the proposed
temporary median from the creek to Broadmoor Boulevard.
The City Manager said the estimated cost for a full- length test by
the City would be $30,000 for installation and $30,000 for removal,
if necessary. He said removal would probably be unnecessary because
it would be overlaid by Caltrans, but the additional $30,000 would
be needed if problems occur and the test needs to be removed.
Mr. Kruger said the project could be done by City employees on
weekends. He said a community meeting would be held in late July or
mid - August prior to the test in September. A follow -up meeting
would be held in December, with a recommendation to Council early
next year, in time to work with Caltrans.
