• Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 21 - Redevelopment Agency Meeting - August 5, 1996 The realtors, for years have put out the triangle signs on the corner to alert people of open houses and garage sales. The one thing they fail to recognize, a person in a wheel chair that tries to maneuver cannot pass one of those signs. We can put in handicap ramps all we want to, but it won't help if they can't get by the signs. They start on one side, in the middle of the turn is a real estate sign, they don't have the ability to move them out of the way so then they try to go across a lawn, that doesn't work so they back up a block or more to try and cross the street. Regarding Heron Bay, on Wicks and Lewelling, there is dust and dirt that is accumulating in a large fashion. The water truck and street sweeper doesn't do much. Rather than using EBMUD water, can they fill up at WPCP or Oro Loma with reclaimed water? I would like to see that pursued. 8.3.6 Council Member Loeffler: It has been a busy summer, and we are trying to get back into a routine. I attended the Marina Faire Annual Picnic by the Bay. It was interesting to see the homeowners' association reaching out to the homeowners of the community. The Fire Department should get a commendation. It is especially exciting to see our new fire truck; it is the star of the show. If you have not seen it, watch for it. I note we are also losing another employee. Carrie Barnecut, is moving to the Oakland Office of Emergency Services. As a member of the Disaster Preparedness Subcommittee and a school principal, I can say Carrie has been a caring parent, dedicated Red Cross member, and has served our Council and community well. I congratulate Oakland for their wisdom in selecting Carrie for her talents. She is still a resident, and I hope she still participates in the community. Regarding City Hall, is there a timeline for the completion? I also have questions on the budget for the project. I have a suggestion for the new Agenda format, can a page be added that shows the Council Districts. As people come to the Council meetings I see them wondering which District they are in. I would like to see an Annual Pioneer Day established to share residents' stories and history. Sunnyvale does something like this. 8.3.7 Mayor Corbett: At the Farmers' Market I heard those kind of comments. Bob Glaze brought up the 125th Birthday of San Leandro next year. That would be a great time to start that process. With Council's consensus we can start.
