• Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 6 -
Redevelopment Agency Meeting - August 5, 1996
Council Member Galvan: It is obvious there are a handful of folks
that make up the amount. I am curious, do you make personal contact
or are the businesses just caught in the process.
Jermanis: With the larger ones we do a personal contact. There is
usually some dialog of why they aren't paying. The Water Pollution
Control Plant particularly looks into ways to reduce the overall
cost. There is also contact from our office with the large bills.
The smaller ones are all by mail notification.
Council Member Galvan: What type of foods does Will's prepare?
Jermanis: Green, potato, and macaroni salads. We send out 18,000
bills on garbage and sewer. This just represents a small amount that
will pay through the tax bill.
Mayor Corbett: Is there anyone who has additional questions?
The Hearing was then opened to the public.
Lou Filipovich: Hoped Alice will be happy where she's going. If the
name Mally ever comes up to you in conversation, I'll help you with
information.
Lou Filipovich: There is one word in the resolution regarding unpaid
dues. It is impossible to get into much of this stuff in detail when
you don't have the time to do it. The sewer refuse, explain what
that is, is it garbage or recycling.
Mayor Corbett: Yes.
Lou Filipovich: Could you separate the two. You have two tier or
double billing. When you go back and try to collect this you will
run into difficultly. I think you should take garbage, refuse, and
recycling and take them out. Keep weed and the others in. Thank
you.
There being no further comments from the public, on motion of Council
Member Polvorosa, seconded by Council Member Glaze, and carried by a
majority vote (7), the Public Hearing was closed.
The following Resolution was then introduced:
3.2.1 Resolution No. 96 -124, Confirming Report of the Finance
Director Imposing Liens for Non - Payment of Delinquent City
Service Charges, Sewer /Refuse Service, and Weed Abatement
Charges (authorizes the City to forward tax liens to Alameda
County for assessment on the 1996 -97 tax rolls for unpaid
Sewer /Refuse Service Charges, and Weed Abatement Charges).
(1221/1197)
M /S /C Young and Galvan. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0
