(2603/1413) <br /> The City Council directed the Acting City Clerk to commence <br /> public notice proceedings and set Hearings, as required by <br /> law, for consideration of a gross- receipts tax on concealed <br /> firearms, at a rate of 3 %, excluding sales to public <br /> agencies and other dealers (Alternative C), and directing <br /> that the Public Hearing for final adoption be held after the <br /> November General Election. <br /> M /S /C Loeffler and Polvorosa. Ayes: 4; Noes: Galvan, Glaze, <br /> and Young <br /> - Minute Order No. 96 -36, Matter of Receiving Public Input <br /> Regarding Gun Violence and Motion Concerning Use of Revenue. <br /> (2603/1413) <br /> The City Council created the City Council Gross Receipts Tax <br /> Revenue Ad Hoc Study Committee to study the possible uses of <br /> gross- receipts tax revenue, appointed Mayor Corbett and <br /> Council Members Loeffler and Polvorosa to the Ad Hoc <br /> Committee, and requested that the committee come back with <br /> recommendations prior to the Public Hearing. <br /> M /S /C Polvorosa and Lothrop. Ayes: 6; Noes: Galvan <br /> • <br /> 6.7 Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> The City Attorney reported no action was taken. <br /> 7. OPEN FORUM <br /> Open Forum is limited to 3 minutes maximum per speaker, 15 minutes <br /> total. <br /> 7.1 Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, opposes the tax ordinance. <br /> 7.2 Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, asked for clarification <br /> regarding the two Public Hearings and types of tax. City <br /> Attorney Steve Meyers noted the difference between a special <br /> tax and a general tax. <br />
