• Minutes City of San Leandro City Council and Page 15 <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting - September 16, 1996 <br /> 8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> 8.1 Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> 8.1.1 Mayor Corbett provided a Waste Management Authority <br /> quarterly report update. She announced they had <br /> successfully passed a FY 1996 -97 budget, the new Board <br /> had been elected, a Web Page had been established, and <br /> the first compost class has recently graduated. <br /> 8.2 Reports on City Council Subcommittees <br /> None <br /> 8.3 City Council Comments <br /> 8.3.1 Council Member Lothrop congratulated Council Member <br /> Young on the successful Business Walk 1996. She said it <br /> was a great experience and that she learned a great deal <br /> from the business owners. <br /> 8.3.2 Council Member Loeffler shared Council Member Lothrop's <br /> comments on the Business Walk. He noted that, within <br /> 2 -1/2 blocks, 70% of the owners did not reside in San <br /> Leandro. He said the owners commented positively on the <br /> friendliness of the community and the safety of the <br /> area. <br /> Council Member Loeffler reminded everyone of the <br /> upcoming Home Improvement Faire on October 9, 1996, in <br /> the Broadmoor neighborhood. <br /> Council Member Loeffler asked that the meeting be <br /> adjourned in memory of Winifred Crew and A. J. Olivera, <br /> former School Board Trustees. <br /> Council Member Loeffler suggested that it was time to <br /> begin discussion regarding the City Manager recruitment <br /> process. <br /> Council Member Loeffler commented on the potential loss <br /> of the Dutton Avenue Post Office and asked for help to <br /> retain it at that location. <br /> 8.3.3 Mayor Corbett noted that the issue of City Manager <br /> recruitment is an action item. <br /> Council Member Glaze agreed that the City Council should <br /> formally start the process. <br /> Council Member Young suggested the Council revisit the <br /> Kingsford Teambuilding process and combine it with the <br /> recruitment discussion. <br />
