• Minutes City of San Leandro City Council and Page 15 Redevelopment Agency Meeting - September 16, 1996 8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS 8.1 Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies 8.1.1 Mayor Corbett provided a Waste Management Authority quarterly report update. She announced they had successfully passed a FY 1996 -97 budget, the new Board had been elected, a Web Page had been established, and the first compost class has recently graduated. 8.2 Reports on City Council Subcommittees None 8.3 City Council Comments 8.3.1 Council Member Lothrop congratulated Council Member Young on the successful Business Walk 1996. She said it was a great experience and that she learned a great deal from the business owners. 8.3.2 Council Member Loeffler shared Council Member Lothrop's comments on the Business Walk. He noted that, within 2 -1/2 blocks, 70% of the owners did not reside in San Leandro. He said the owners commented positively on the friendliness of the community and the safety of the area. Council Member Loeffler reminded everyone of the upcoming Home Improvement Faire on October 9, 1996, in the Broadmoor neighborhood. Council Member Loeffler asked that the meeting be adjourned in memory of Winifred Crew and A. J. Olivera, former School Board Trustees. Council Member Loeffler suggested that it was time to begin discussion regarding the City Manager recruitment process. Council Member Loeffler commented on the potential loss of the Dutton Avenue Post Office and asked for help to retain it at that location. 8.3.3 Mayor Corbett noted that the issue of City Manager recruitment is an action item. Council Member Glaze agreed that the City Council should formally start the process. Council Member Young suggested the Council revisit the Kingsford Teambuilding process and combine it with the recruitment discussion.
