Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 22 - <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting - October 7, 1996 <br /> Mayor Corbett noted that the Youth Advisory Commission has been <br /> included in the development of the Parks Master Plan. She said she <br /> appreciates the efforts of everyone involved, as well as the <br /> consideration of the City Council. She said even without the rink <br /> other events and activities would occur. <br /> Council Member Galvan noted his support for the activities outlined <br /> in the staff report, especially the lights, and he supports the <br /> alternative proposals. <br /> Community Services Director David Bohne and Economic Development <br /> Coordinator Nanci Klein reported on the alternative holiday <br /> activities. They said the events will be organized and coordinated <br /> by the DBA, downtown merchants, and the Community Services staff. <br /> Mr. Bohne described the proposed programs which included neighborhood <br /> carolling. Ms. Klein described the "Miracle on East 14th Street" and <br /> said the Pelton- Scribner re- opening will include a mixer. <br /> Vice Mayor Polvorosa said in past years the Chamber of Commerce had <br /> been active in a holiday decorating contest. He commented on holiday <br /> programs and having Santa available throughout the town, such as at <br /> the branch libraries. <br /> Council Member Lothrop suggested looking into children's projects, <br /> such as gift tags, that could be used as a fundraiser for next year. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> Minute Order No. 96 -45, Matter of Holiday Events. (2207) <br /> The City Council directed staff to proceed with holiday events, as <br /> presented in the staff report. <br /> M /S /C Loeffler and Lothrop. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> 6.12 Ordinance No. 96 -015, An Ordinance Amending Section 6- 1- 430(c) of the <br /> San Leandro Municipal Code Relating to Traffic Control of Non - <br /> Motorized Vehicles (amends existing San Leandro Municipal Code to <br /> allow City -owned vehicles that are non - motorized to be left on a <br /> public roadway; vehicles can be parked only for purposes related to <br /> official City business). Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> 6.13 Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> City Attorney Steve Meyers reported that there was no action taken; <br /> direction was given to the City's real property negotiator. <br />
