Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 22 - Redevelopment Agency Meeting - October 7, 1996 Mayor Corbett noted that the Youth Advisory Commission has been included in the development of the Parks Master Plan. She said she appreciates the efforts of everyone involved, as well as the consideration of the City Council. She said even without the rink other events and activities would occur. Council Member Galvan noted his support for the activities outlined in the staff report, especially the lights, and he supports the alternative proposals. Community Services Director David Bohne and Economic Development Coordinator Nanci Klein reported on the alternative holiday activities. They said the events will be organized and coordinated by the DBA, downtown merchants, and the Community Services staff. Mr. Bohne described the proposed programs which included neighborhood carolling. Ms. Klein described the "Miracle on East 14th Street" and said the Pelton- Scribner re- opening will include a mixer. Vice Mayor Polvorosa said in past years the Chamber of Commerce had been active in a holiday decorating contest. He commented on holiday programs and having Santa available throughout the town, such as at the branch libraries. Council Member Lothrop suggested looking into children's projects, such as gift tags, that could be used as a fundraiser for next year. The following Motion was then introduced: Minute Order No. 96 -45, Matter of Holiday Events. (2207) The City Council directed staff to proceed with holiday events, as presented in the staff report. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 6.12 Ordinance No. 96 -015, An Ordinance Amending Section 6- 1- 430(c) of the San Leandro Municipal Code Relating to Traffic Control of Non - Motorized Vehicles (amends existing San Leandro Municipal Code to allow City -owned vehicles that are non - motorized to be left on a public roadway; vehicles can be parked only for purposes related to official City business). (1022) - Passed to Print M /S /C Glaze and Galvan. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 6.13 Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. City Attorney Steve Meyers reported that there was no action taken; direction was given to the City's real property negotiator.
