Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 24 - <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting - October 7, 1996 <br /> City Council directed staff to look into current policy <br /> regarding planting trees and to forward the information within <br /> a week. Vice Mayor Polvorosa passed. <br /> 8.3.3 Council Member Glaze said he intended to nominate Al Cayere to <br /> the Library- Historical Commission, District 4. Council <br /> concurred. <br /> The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> Minute Order No. 96 -46, Matter of Nomination of Member to <br /> Library- Historical Commission (District 4) - Alban Cayere. <br /> (1017) <br /> The City Council approved the nomination of Alban Cayere to <br /> the Library- Historical Commission, District 4. <br /> M /S /C Loeffler and Glaze. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> The Resolution appointing Mr. Cayere to the Library- Historical <br /> Commission, District 4, will be scheduled for the October 21, <br /> 1996, City Council meeting. <br /> Council Member Glaze asked that the meeting be adjourned in <br /> memory of Dick West, former City Clerk, and Tony Sapone. He <br /> said that Dick had a vast amount of knowledge of the City and <br /> a great sense of history. Both will be greatly missed. <br /> 8.3.4 Council Member Loeffler commented on a successful Cabrillo Day <br /> on September 22. The event celebrates Portuguese heritage; he <br /> was able to meet the Portuguese Consulate General. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said he walked the Shoreline Run and <br /> proposed that the City Council create a Council Trophy for <br /> participation. <br /> He commended Council Member Lothrop on a successful <br /> neighborhood meeting with the Police Department. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the Cornerstone Restaurant had <br /> asked if the bus stop could be moved to a different location. <br /> He asked staff to look into this issue. <br /> Council Member Loeffler said the abandoned, grocery -cart issue <br /> seemed to be getting worse. City Attorney Steve Meyers noted <br /> that substantial changes to a local ordinance would have to <br /> occur to remediate the situation. <br /> 8.3.5 Council Member Lothrop thanked the Police Department and City <br /> staff for putting the recent meeting together. She said it is <br /> the beginning of a series of community safety meetings. She <br /> said participation was great. <br /> Council Member Lothrop commented on having attended the <br /> Gathering of the Ohlone People in Fremont. <br />
