Ayes: 5; Noes: 0; Excused: Corbett and <br /> Loeffler. <br /> 6.6 Matter of Antiviolence - Public Input for Consideration of a Change <br /> in the Method of Computation of the Business License Fee Relating to <br /> the Sale of Concealable Firearms (creates a separate business license <br /> classification for dealers of concealable firearms and provides for <br /> public input, as required by State law, prior to the Public Hearing <br /> scheduled for November 18, 1996. No action will be taken on this <br /> matter). (2603/1413) <br /> - The City Council received public input regarding this <br /> proposal. No Action Required. <br /> - Letter from Anthony Cucchiara dba Traders Sports, Inc., <br /> Objecting to Proposed Public Meeting. <br /> - Letter Opposing Hand Gun Sale Ban and Tax from Mark E. <br /> Fulford, 4175 Galloway Street, Livermore, dated October 8, <br /> 1996. <br /> Interim Assistant City Manager John Jermanis announced the public <br /> input forum related to the Business License Fee. He said the <br /> proposed ordinance would impose a 3% fee on concealable firearms; it <br /> would also add the provision of firearms dealers to the Municipal <br /> Code. He announced the formal Public Hearing on November 18, 1996, <br /> at the regular City Council meeting. He said there would be no <br /> action on this item this evening. <br /> 6.6.1 Mike Couglar, 1165 Sandelin Drive said he had purchased his <br /> first house this past year and does not want to be penalized <br /> by other people's actions and having his rights taken away. <br /> He urged the Council not to vote on the tax. He said, if they <br /> did so, he urged them to focus on a specific antiviolence <br /> program and not to add to the general fund. <br />
