Strategic Plan — FY 2000 -FY 2004 <br /> City of San Leandro <br /> Page 32 of 35 <br /> Short and Long Term Objectives <br /> It is anticipated that CDBG funding will be available during the five -year program period to assist local <br /> nonprofit agencies and City- initiated capital improvement projects. In the short term, the City <br /> anticipates continuing its efforts to further disabled accessibility at City parks and public facilities. <br /> Funding will continue to be provided to nonprofit public service agencies on a need basis. It is <br /> anticipated that CDBG capital improvement funds will be allocated towards shopping center <br /> revitalization efforts and mobile home park improvements. In the longer term, CDBG funds will <br /> continue to be allocated primarily to nonprofit agencies seeking assistance with specific capital projects <br /> on a case -by -case basis through the annual allocation process. <br /> Accomplishments <br /> During the next five years, the types of activities funded are likely to include the following: <br /> • The City anticipates completing accessibility improvements to the Chabot Park Restrooms. <br /> • • The City will contribute CDBG funds towards two neighborhood shopping center revitalization <br /> projects. The centers will be located within a Redevelopment project area or within an income <br /> eligible area. <br /> • The City will continue its program of installing wheel chair curb ramps to increase accessibility <br /> (approximately eight ramps annually). <br /> • The City will assist the Davis Street Family Resource Center in the completion of a new "one stop" <br /> center which will provide childcare, emergency food, clothing, medical and other services to <br /> individuals and families in need. The Davis Street Family Resource Center will provide assistance <br /> to approximately 500 households annually. <br /> • The City will continue to provide capital improvement project funding for non - profit agencies <br /> serving San Leandro residents. It is anticipated that approximately 4 agencies will be funded <br /> annually. <br />
